 ibc members

On November 3, the International Buddhist Congregation (IBC) of Rissho Kosei-kai held the English Exposition 2009 in Serenity Hall at Hoju Vocational College in Tokyo. The approximately 300 attendees were students at the college as well as members of IBC, and Rissho Kosei-kai members from Tokyo and Saitama, Kanagawa, and Chiba prefectures.

The Expo aims to encourage interest in the worldwide dissemination of Buddhism, and Rissho Kosei-kai members' sharing of the Buddha's teachings with foreign residents in Japan. It also aims to give an opportunity for attendees to improve their English skills and study the Lotus Sutra in English.

Two hundred people in 19 groups made presentations. Some groups recited from memory passages from Invisible Eyelashes, the English translation of a book by Founder Nikkyo Niwano, and from an English translation of the Threefold Lotus Sutra; testified in English to their faith; performed short plays based on the Lotus Sutra chapters "The Parable of the Herbs" and "The Bodhisattva Never Despise"; or sang and danced.
