Senior WJC Official Visits Rissho Kosei-kai Headquarters

On February 25, Dr. Maram Stern, deputy secretary-general of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), visited Rissho Kosei-kai headquarters in Tokyo and conferred with Rev. Takeshi Kawabata, director of the General Affairs Bureau, in the administration building.
WJC is an international federation of Jewish communities and organizations around the world, established in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1936, with headquarters now in New York. Dr. Stern visited Japan to study religions in Japan and the current state of interreligious dialogue in Japan.
Dr. Stern told Rev. Kawabata of his participation in the World Conference on Dialogue in July 2008 in Madrid, organized by the Muslim World League. He expressed WJC's hope of fostering interaction between Japan and Jewish communities around the world and of promoting dialogue between Jews and people of other faiths in Japan.
Rev. Kawabata told Dr. Stern that Rissho Kosei-kai promotes interreligious dialogue and cooperation for world peace in collaboration with member organizations of the World Conference of Religions for Peace and hopes to cultivate friendly relations with people of faith in many countries.
