Donate-a-Meal Movement

This Rissho Kosei-kai peace initiative was officially established in 1975 and continues to enjoy widespread support. Participating members forgo a few meals every month and then contribute the money saved to the Rissho Kosei-kai Donate-a-Meal Fund for Peace through their local Dharma centers. Those who donate are motivated by compassion for people around the world affected by poverty, conflict, disaster, and other hardships, and pray that their donations will help to alleviate such suffering and contribute to world peace. The Donate-a-Meal Movement is founded upon the One-Vehicle spirit of the Lotus Sutra, which reveals the truth that all people are brothers and sisters sustained by the one immense Life of the universe.
