Rissho Kosei-kai Peace Mission Visits Philippines

A five-member Rissho Kosei-kai peace mission visited the Philippines during April 5-10, led by Rev. Noriko Nakamura, director of the Dharma Education and Human Resources Department.A five-member Rissho Kosei-kai peace mission visited the Philippines during April 5-10, led by Rev. Noriko Nakamura, director of the Dharma Education and Human Resources Department.

On April 7 the mission members held a memorial service at the cemetery for Japanese war dead in the city of Muntinlupa, a suburb of Metropolitan Manila.

On April 8 in the city of Bagac on the Bataan Peninsula, they visited the Friendship Tower, built in 1975 as symbol of world peace and friendship between Japan and the Philippines. With local members of the Bataan Christian Youth Civic Circle (BCYCC) they attended a ceremony marking the tower's 41st anniversary and prayed for world peace. Afterward in Balanga City, Bataan, they met the governor of Bataan, Mr. Albert S. Garcia.

On April 9 the mission members were guests at a national commemoration of Bataan Day, which included prayers for victims of the Second World War.
